Main thing I wanted to figure out was why a competitor was outpacing us on Instagram. Hooked up their account and went through posts, stories, followers over time. That follower list with join dates was something I kept going back to. I could see exactly when their growth spiked and then match it to what they were doing at the time. My operations manager started using it by week two without me walking her through it, so the learning curve is pretty much nothing. This is good. After a month we understood more about their strategy than we'd figured out from months of manual checking.

I got the test offer on March 10 but didn't actually start until the 24th. I figured I'd wasted half the period but apparently they count from when you connect a profile, not when you sign up, which was a nice surprise. I'd been kind of guessing with seasonal content planning forever. Tracked a bigger ecommerce brand and the stories archive was the first thing that grabbed my attention. Anonymous browsing mattered for us too — didn't want our business account showing up in their views. Service works fine, but it's missing a few things I actually need. Not quite there for my use case.

What I liked most is just how easy it was to study someone's work without getting sucked into Instagram itself. I used it mostly on my tablet, going through a travel creator's older stuff, new stories, how she edits. The anonymous viewing made it feel less weird. No risk of accidentally liking a post from 2022 at 1am lol. The only thing I'd change is better sorting for saved content, right now it's a bit scattered when you've saved a lot. But overall it did what I needed.

Okay so the story viewer is so useful. I was tracking a meme page in my niche to figure out their posting schedule and which formats were working. Browsing without logging into my Instagram kept me way more focused, no reels spiral. Content isn't fully live, there's a bit of a lag, but for research purposes that doesn't really matter. If you're using Instagram for actual professional stuff rather than just scrolling, the difference between using this vs the app is noticeable.

I didn't just test Peekviewer, I also went and read all the other reviews I could find, which is just how I approach things. Main takeaway from those is that they did a full dashboard redesign not long ago and it's apparently better now than it was. My experience: I could browse posts without handing over my Insta login at all, which was a requirement for me. Switching between accounts is clunky though. Campaign research is a bit faster, but the thing that stuck with me most is how long it took to get into the platform after signing up, sat waiting longer than I should have.

Before: pre-meeting prep for wellness brand clients meant five open tabs, manually screenshotting, hoping I hadn't missed something from the last few days. Basic setup: connect an account, Peekviewer pulls everything into a dashboard. Updates on its own so content's there even if I haven't checked in a few days. I didn't share my Instagram login at all. Used a bunch of viewer tools before this, most are either outdated or trying to do fifteen things. This one just does one thing well, clean view of whatever profile you're tracking. My one gripe is one profile per subscription, that's going to be a limit for people with bigger workloads. But for focused research on a single account it works well. Recommend.
